I haven't updated for quite some time, I'm sorry. :( I just never seem around to doing it. And the stuff I do these days isn't really exciting. It consists mostly of trying to write my Super Imporant Paper for my German uni, becoming a social recluse because I have to write a Super Important Paper for my German uni, and moaning about becoming a social recluse AND about my paper. But yesterday cool things happened, so I feel like sharing my joy with you! ;)

On Monday I couldn't go to uni because I had a really, really bad headache, and that really sucked because my favourite course is on Monday. I was all annoyed about my headache (and my paper - it's consistent annoyance), but then this girl I have the course with messaged me on Facebook telling me we got a card for a musical from our teacher! I loooove musicals (even though I'm really not a musical expert), so I was very excited! I was kind of unsure whether we had to pay for it, but though even if we had to, I would just invest it because musical are cool.

Turns out we didn't have to pay for it! It was a gift from our teacher. <3 Or rather from the uni. Apparently our teacher applied for some money from a uni fund which exists so - wait for it - students enjoy being students! Best thing ever, yes? :D The cards were pretty expensive, too, 280 NOK which is about 35 €.

So we went to the musical yesterday, The Black Rider, and I thought it was really, really good. <3 The costumes and the stage were insanely pretty, and the performances were really good, too, and the translated dialogue was really funny! The musical started with the narrator coming into the foyer telling us to come in, and then inside he stood on the stage and thanked us for coming and not watching TV even though we were missing such exciting programmes as "E-koli - do we eat chemicals?" and listed some other programmes that were on that evening. It was just really funny. :)

They even have a trailer on YouTube:

And apparently Morten Abel is famous here. :D

The theatre building itself is really cool, too! So glad I could go! I hope I can go again. :)

Should probably post some more pictures in my next entry, but the truth is I haven't taken a lot the last few weeks, sorry! Will try to be better about it. <3

Sounds wonderful, I wish I could have seen it too. (And did you know of Morten Abel before you moved to Norway?)

It was. ♥

I have to admit, I didn't know him before. They just kept making a big deal out of the fact that he was in the play, so I looked him up. :) But it's really cool, they have such a good theatre here. <3

Yeah, Abel is a big thing in Norway. I was at a concert with him all the way back in 1989. God, I'm getting old. 8(

And yes, Hålogaland teater is great. Kid and I just saw "Gutten og gullfuglen" on tour. I go whenever I can.

I feel so young and insignificant now! :O But I think I might browse YouTube and look after what he's done. :)

Was it nice? I think it's awesome that they tour! Where did you go? :) I really want to go to another play. Maybe the Christmas one? I hope I can find somebody to come along (or maybe I'll just go alone <3).

It was very nice. :) Here's the tour plan and pics, but it's finished now. http://www.ht.tr.no/index.php/theatre/showview?iShowID=269
(I won't tell you where I went to see it in an open post, sorry. I'll tell you in a PM if you want to know.)

The Christmas one sounds really nice!

I was just curious, you can PM me, but you really don't have to if you don't want to tell me. <3

I hope I can go! :D I always watch the Christmas fairytale back home. <3

That is so cool of your teacher! How many of you went?

The whole course got tickets, but two declined. :( Our teacher brought his girlfriend/wife (I'm note sure) too, so I think we were about 7 or 8?
The one guy from Germany (who I can't stand anyway!) declined because he "doesn't like musicals". I think that's so incredibly rude! >(

That really is rude! It was free; what else did he have to do with his time?! I bet he just sat in his room listing to music or just bumming around. It sounds like "Lost Cause" didn't bother turning up for our field trip when it was all paid for us X( It makes you wonder why these people are on the course at all.

I bet he made some more wine, or told people how awesome he is for making wine. It's all he talks about these days, and in the end it isn't even good wine and just makes everyone sick! He's so annoying! He also once told me that he doesn't believe in watching any news. This guy... >/
Why do there always have to be such people? :/ But at least this way he couldn't annoy you on your field trip?

Ugh. Is he one of those "I do things like keep chickens and make my own wine because it's sooooooooo cool..."? My mother used to make wine! I dislike it when people jump on these sort of hobbies because they are "flavour of the month" X( I can imagine his wine tastes rank!

I'm glad that when these people don't turn up it makes things a bit more pleasant, but it's still annoying that they are there at all. I can't understand why someone would go from Germany to Norway for a year and just not try to experience Norwegian culture.

I generally think making your own wine can be pretty cool! I definitely want to try it sometime! My mother makes a kind of liqueur herself. I don't know the English name, but it has a wiki page with pictures (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aufgesetzten), maybe you know what I mean? Anyway, he just does it because it's hip, and because "the alcohol in Norway is so expensive, we just get drunk by our own power!" Which is what he said! This is the guy I wanted to rant about, so now I just do it here instead. :/ It's all about drinking the whole weekend for him and a lot of other people.

I can't understand that either! He even studies Scandinavian studies, so you would think he's interested in the culture! But apparently he never turns any papers in etc. :/ I'm not sure if he really stays a year, I hope it's just a semester and he goes home before Christmas!

Yes, we still have all of our wine making equipment. I was thinking on starting it up again, but I didn't bring anything with me. Wine and beer making is very popular on Orkney :) (that's why I want to do my project on food here :D). It seems so stupid that people want to do these things because it's seen as a "cool" thing to do, because they "fight the machine". I bet he smokes hand-made cigarettes too u_u

I think what is most annoying about these people is that when you apply for something (like Erasmus or a course) and you are so happy when you get in, you feel like you had to work hard to earn a place and then you find people on it that don't bother at all and don't care.

I don't know if he smokes, but if he does, it will be hand-made cigarettes! :/

Yes, exactly! It was really complicated for me, and most of the people here just came on a whim. :(

Yes, there are people on my course that found out on a Saturday they had a place here and they moved two days later :\ It took me months to save and prepare. They just don't care about the place at all.
