Grøtfjord picture post!

Today was our last trip we all did together as this year's group of international students of the University of Tromsø, and it was an amazing trip! :D

We went to the Grøtfjord beach to barbecue and you could go hiking or fishing if you wanted! I did actually go hiking and it was so much fun, and the nature was soooo beautiful, but it was pretty exhausting, too, which is the reason I'll just dump some photos here, and maybe don't write too much about everything! :)



At first you cross a forest which is really pretty.


We were quite a lot of people.


There was water running down the rocks just about everywhere!


You could pick blueberries as you went along. So many blueberries! :D

Cooling of our feet in the sea afterwards! xD (It was so cold, it hurt! I don't know how some people could actually swim in it!)

So, that's about it. It was really cool. Want to go hiking again soon! :D

Reindeer are SO COOL ;-; And that beach looks beautiful! <3 Ha, I love how deceptive the water up north can be... You look at the beaches and think "Ooh, that looks like it could be tropical!" and then you get in the water and almost die XD

I love reindeer! :D I hope I can go to the Sami festival in winter when they are having reindeer races and such! :D
Yeah. xD When we were on the mountain and really hot and out of breath, we thought about going for a swim once we were down because the water looked really nice and blue, but once we got our feet in, we instantly changed our minds. xD

Reindeer are just so cute! ♥ One of the girl here wants to establish a reindeer farm and then ride around on one. Such a good idea! xD

Everywhere is just so beautiful here, I want to take pictures of everything! X) And the weather today was really warm! About 20-something degrees! ♥ After eating we just sat around in the sand and that was actually pretty warm. And awesome. :)

Wow really?!? That is very warm! I know we are pretty far north here on Orkney, but you are waaaaaaaay up north so you don't expect such warm weather XD

How is the temperature on Orkney? :D It's really far north here, I guess, but at the moment you don't really notice it. :)

It's been about 15c here and quite overcast but warm, but it's getting quite cold at night. It's all electric heating here as well so it is very expensive trying to keep warm.

We have electric heating here, too! But we pay a fixed amount for the electricity each month, regardless of what we actually use, so I can keep it very cosy! Thanks Tromsø student hostels! :D

Ours is Pay as you Go so in the winter we are going to have to be very careful. There usually are monthly payment options, but the gas man comes round every few months and if you used more than they estimate that you will, you have to pay them the extra money which can be hundreds of pounds :(

Whoops I said Gas man instead of Electricity man (I'm used to having gas back on the mainland lol)! I'm sure we'll find a way to keep warm ;) We have electric blankets and hot water bottles plus it's really cheap to have the heaters on overnight so we'll just have to store as much energy in them as we can and use them if we're really too cold.

We need to compare snow pictures in the winter (if we actually get any XD)

Yeah! xD Here it apparently begins snowing in September/October, and there's a lot of snow in December/January. xD So, there isn't a lot of it on Orkney?

Apparently there was a lot of snow last year (Scotland in general came to a standstill for a little while cos we can't cope with the stuff XD) but I'm not sure how much snow they get here. I'm sure we'll find out soon ;)

In Wahrheit ist es irgendwie noch schöner! Und sieht gleichzeitig fast schon unecht aus. xD Wirklich herrlich! Werde versuchen, morgen dran zu denken, ein paar Fotos in der Innenstadt zu machen, also kommt vll bald schon Nachschub. ;)
