Book meme, read or die! >D

Awesome book meme snagged from [livejournal.com profile] jurindel. :)

Notes: I will list list the books that are originally German under the German tile and give the English title in small parentheses (if it exists and differs). :) Books I read in German but are originally English, I will list under the English name and do the parenthesis thing with the German title.
Books I read in English I’ll just list under the English title. xD
Not complicated at all, eh? xD

1. Favourite Book?
Tricky and mean question just like the very last one... xD
... I have a lot... but if I have to chose I’d say... I can’t decide, okay? xD

2. Favourite Author?
Astrid Lindgren. She’s just one of those brilliant authors you can read at any age because your perception of the story and therefore the story itself changes as you grow older. Or at least that’s what happened/happens to me.

3. Favourite Genre?
I don’t have one. I will like a book from any genre as long as it’s good. :)

4. Favourite series of books?
Actually... quite a lot. xD For one I still love all the Pettersson und Findus books, so I guess I have to pick them.
If trilogies count as well, I’ll also say the Herr Lehmann trilogy by Sven Regener.

5. Favourite Illustrator?
Ilon Wikland, I love her style and... everything. ♥ (She is the one that illustrated most of Astrid Lindgren’s books, just in case you don’t know the name. :))

6. Favourite book from when you were little?
From when I was very little, Pettersson und Findus by Sven Nordqvist. When I was a little older but still little... probably the Oberschnüffler Oswald series by Christian Bieniek.

7. Favourite Heroes?
I really like Arthur Dent from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books by Douglas Adams, he’s so grumpy and English! Is he considered a hero? xD
And Frank Lehmann of the Herr Lehmann books, he’s so amusing and thoughtful. ♥

8. Favourite Villains?
Oh God, um, let me think for a minute...
...
...
... If I can think of one I’ll fill it out later... *scratches head*

9. Favourite couples?
Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Buttler from Gone With The Wind (Vom Winde verweht) by Margaret Mitchell, and Meggie Cleary and Father Ralph de Bricassart from The Thorn Birds (Dornenvögel) by Colleen Mc Cullough. Yes, I’m boring like that, but... I just love them. They’re so epic. xD
A couple that is not quite as epic, but which I still adore is Howl and Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, they’re like cats hissing at each other! \o/

5 Lasts

1. Last book you bought?
Medea. Stimmen (Medea: a modern retelling) by Christa Wolf.

2. Last book you were given?
Die Liebe in Zeiten der Cholera (Love in the Time of Cholera) by Gabriel García Márquez. My lovely friend Ines gave it to me for my birthday. :)

3. Last book you pre-ordered?
Wow, that’s a long time ago, I usually never pre-order books... It was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch) by J.K. Rowling. xD

4. Last book you loved?
Herr Lehmann (Berlin Blues) by Sven Regener which I read after reading Der kleine Bruder which reminded me how much I love the writing style and characters and everything. :D

5. Last book you hated?
Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington. Had to read it for school and I just found it boring and repetitive. :/

3 Dos

1. Do you read part of your current book every day?
Yes, at the moment I actually do. :D

2. Do you stick to one genre of books or do you jump around?
Jump around, a lot, always, nothing could matter less about a book for me than its genre.

3. Do you review all the books you read on LJ?
No, I’m too lazy, but I plan to review all books I read in 2008 at the end of the year. :)

2 Whats

1. What books do you plan on reading?
Precisely? Die Liebe in Zeiten der Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez, Berlin Alexanderplatz by Alfred Döblin, Tintenherz (Inkheart) by Cornelia Funke, A Place Called Here and If you could see me now (Zwischen Himmel und Liebe) by Cecilia Ahern, Elfenwinter by Bernhard Hennen, and To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee (for school).
These are all the books I have lying around here that are yet unread (and some more, but I might have given up on them...).

2. What do you look for in a book?
Awesomeness. (I don’t even know, I just like good books.)

1 If

1. If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take one book with you, which book would you choose?
Oh, that’s a mean and difficult question. D: And I can’t decide either... Well, okay, if I have to... I’d either choose my Hitchhiker’s Guide anthology or Neue Vahr Süd by Sven Regener. Both are thick. xD

... Wow, that took me so very long. xD

What you said about Astrid Lindgren, I absolutely agree! There are things I just notice today that I didn't recognize or understand as a kid ...
And I like that you don't care for the genre ^^
Arthur Dent is adorable!

Well, I just... don't know how to care for a genre... xD I couldn't even if I wanted to... xD

Gone With The Wind was a 10x better book than movie. And the movie was pretty awesome. :)

Yes, yes, I absolutely agree. :)
