Oh, believe me, I'd be perfectly happy without any of my RL friends knowing, I don't mind them being aware of it (anymore, since the only person I ever really worried about finding out was sis who turns out to be one of those fangirls herself - and a much more ferocious one at that, I might add XD - was the first to ever approach me about it... and that turned out pretty well, I'd say :), it's just that I don't really get anything from their being an 'insider' on my 'secret'... 'cause 'cept for sis and first her, now mutual friend of the both of us, none of my confidantes is into slash/yaoi. Sis and friend are just a tad bit too 'forceful' in their adoration of it, so usually I try to keep away from them if they are in one of their yaoi induced seizures o.O; Thus, I'm still stuck with forums... -_- Not that I'm complaining, I'm really grateful for them, especially since you get to know lots of great people (like you for instance :D)... however, I think it'd be so cool sometimes, having at least ONE RL bud who likes yaoi, too, it's just like you said: We do it all for the funny stares! ;)

Hope you don't mind me being so blunt about it, but what the hell's wrong with those friends of yours? I mean, they definitely point liking yaoi and X (it's simply X-cellent (... um. Yeah, sorry 'bout that... -_-;) ^^, I'm not much of a Clamp fan, but that series and Tokyo Babylon of course... *le sigh*), but how about some (artistic) freedom of thought and imagination? Moreover, it's not only slash/yaoi fans who break free from canon, there's gotta be tons of het pairings that are not even remotely hinted at in the series out there as well, and I don't see how portraying certain characters as gay is any different than making them hetero. After all, who gets to have the last word in in the matter? If it's just not their cup of tea, that's perfectly alright, nobody forces them to, but that's no reason for being that anal about other's uptakes on the subject and not being able to tolerate their respective opinion. I dunno, it just doesn't make ANY sense to me... ?-?
(YAY, another member to join our humble club of Spongebob-defiance!! :D Me, I wouldn't go as far as to actually call it hate, I watched a couple episodes after returning from the "Studienfahrt" last fall so as to be able to make myself a picture of it and surprising as it sounds, it wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated, but still... I just don't like it and I think that all this hype is way over the top! That's what annoys me the most, all those mindless morons lost in worship of a sponge of all things... sounds almost funny like this, though... XD)
